Volunteering at Willowwind School
The Willowwind community thrives through the participation of families and community members. Volunteers play an important role in supporting our students, strengthening the learning environment, and helping sustain the school. Because the cost of educating a child at Willowwind exceeds the cost of tuition, volunteer contributions also help supplement resources, maintain our facilities, and support the work of our staff.
Volunteer opportunities in classrooms and throughout the school can also provide families with a deeper understanding of Willowwind’s learning environment. If you are interested in helping in your child’s classroom—whether regularly, occasionally, or by sharing a hobby, skill, or special interest—please contact the classroom teacher. Classroom visits and guest activities are arranged at the teacher’s discretion, depending on classroom needs, schedules, and space.
Ways to Volunteer
Some common ways families support Willowwind include:
- Assisting in classrooms or with classroom projects
- Sharing a hobby, profession, or special interest with students
- Helping with school events and celebrations
- Participating in campus workdays or improvement projects
Volunteers who plan to assist during the school day or be present with students during school hours are required to complete Willowwind's background check authorization. Once submitted and processed, you will receive confirmation that you are cleared to volunteer.
Those who wish to volunteer outside of school hours—such as helping with events, set-up, mulch days, or other after-hours projects—do not need to complete a background check, provided they are not in a supervisory role with students and a Willowwind staff member is present.
